"We Want to Learn Too"
this said a group of the students...
At a school, a group of students felt left out in class. Some had trouble seeing, others couldn't focus, and a few learned in different ways. They wanted to learn, but the lessons didn't work for them, and Teachers didn't know how to help not because they didn't care but because they lacked training and resources. The students felt frustrated, ignored, and alone.
They didn't want special treatment, just a chance to learn like everyone else.
So, they created a poster with drawings and a clear message:
That poster spoke for all of them. It showed what they lived through and how much they just wanted to be included.
What We Can See in the School:
Strengths:
The school is a place full of good intentions. Teachers truly care about their students. There's a sense of community, and most classmates are kind and respectful. The school promotes values and wants every student to succeed.
Challenge:
But when it comes to students with special learning needs, the school isn't ready. Teachers don't have the tools or training to support them. There are no adapted materials, and learning often becomes a struggle for these students.
A Simple Solution:
Start by listening. Create safe spaces where students can share their needs. Train teachers on inclusive strategies. Even small changes can make a big difference. Inclusion begins when we decide to see and understand each other.
